Zauchensee is located in an area that is 1,350m above sea level and this height together with the position of the resort assures skiers plenty of snow in winter, sometimes even too much as it can reach up to 2 m. The skiing season is quite long due to the prolonged presence of snow.

Zauchensee is not an isolated resort, it is actually in the hearth of the Salzburg Sports World and together with Flachauwinkl and Kleinarl is known as belonging to the top ski resorts in the country, a resort that is not only sought by the amateur skiers but by professional ones as the skiing conditions are excellent and of top quality. Many of the best skiers of the country have trained here.

If you think of becoming a professional skier, Zauchensee is one of the best places you can choose to train. Some hills are automatically timed and it makes so much easier to see your score.

Zauchensee is no crammed space you have plenty of slopes to ski on. Just imagine 320 km of slopes! Not all are included in the resort area but even 65 km are plenty enough as that is the length included in the resort’s area.

The slopes are of various difficulty and range from the ones from beginners to the difficult black ones so whether you put your skies on for the first time or you are an expert skier you’ll find the right slope for you.

With such long distances to ski there are plenty of lifts to take you to the right spot and keep the skiing flowing so even in crowded periods you can take full advantage of the slopes.

Zauchensee is a place sought by many who either want to practice skiing to the maximum, just have fun with some leisure skiing or come here to relax in a beautiful atmosphere.

Practicing winter sports that include snowboarding, snowshoeing, ice skating and more is not the only thing offered by this resort, there are many other things you can do and there are a lot of leisure facilities. When the night comes Zauchensee lights up and the parties begin.

If you want to spend the night still with the sight of the mountain just go to the Lift Restaurant & Inn, look out the terrace that gives a broad view and you’ll see a beautiful panorama of the ski area while having fun inside. Of course some of the hotels offer great panorama too but not like this one!

Great sports and activities, fine dining, good music, dancing, reading a book by the fire with a beautiful view of the mountains covered by snow, what more could you want for having fun in your winter vacation?

But Zauchensee can offer even more, as you can come to this resort in summer too making it a year round resort. Summer awaits tourists with different activities and Zauchensee is ready to offer them to every tourist that wants to have great memories of a superb vacation.

Zauchensee is a resort that should definitely be on your list and you should not over look it when you plan your next holiday.

Innsbruck Travel guide

Any Innsbruck travel guide should start with the origin of the name of the city, which literally means “The bridge over the Inn”. Located on the Inn valley inside a larger area situated between the mountains, Innsbruck is the capital of the federal state of Tyrol in western Austria and it is a world renowned centre for winter sports. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1964 and 1976 and it will be home to the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympics in 2012. The city has about 120.000 inhabitants and its positioning gives it a specific climate that cannot be found in other areas in Europe: its winters are very cold and snowy and... Read more »
