Valenzuela Sights - Historical Sites

The city of Valenzuela has a lot of historical sites that tourists can visit. Some of these sights date back to the time when the country was still under the Spanish rule.

Arkong Bato. The name translates in English as "Arch of Stone." As the name implies, this landmark is an arch made of stones. It was made by the Americans in 1910. The arch serves as the border line between Valenzuela and Bulacan. Arkong Bato can be found at the MacArthur Highway.

Museo Valenzuela. This museum is one of the most visited Valenzuela Sights. It does not only have a rich collection of historical materials but it is also considered as a cultural landmark. The exhibits in Museo Valenzuela centers on the life and legacy of its well-known son, Dr. Pio Valenzuela the city was named after. Aside from the displays, the museum is also a venue for various seminars and symposia.

Residence of Dr. Pio Valenzuela. This place is one of the most visited spots in Valenzuela especially for students who are on an educational tour. The residence served as a secret meeting place for the members of the Katipunan during the Spanish regime.

Valenzuela Sights - Religious Sites

Valenzuela City has several religious sites that do not only serve as places for worship but are popular landmarks as well. In fact, Manila Sights may be considered as spectacular.

San Diego de Alcala Church. This church is one of the oldest churches in Metro Manila. It was built in 1632 to honor San Diego de Alcala who is the patron saint of the town. Some parts of the church were destroyed during the Japanese occupation but there are structures dating 4 centuries ago that are still part of the church today.

National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. This place is the hoe of the Fatima Apostolate in the Philippines. It is a well-known pilgrimage shrine as well as a popular tourist site in the country.

Church of San Roque. San Roque is known to be the Patron Saint of the unmarried. This is the center of the Feast of San Roque during the month of May. The church is filled with single women during the feast of the saint because they pray to San Roque to help them find their true love.

It is enticing to note that Valenzuela Sights have more thrills to offer to its locals and visitors. To top them all, the spots become a manifestation of what the city has been through. Explore the beauty of Valenzuela and appreciate its historical and cultural heritage.
