Calamba Sights and Landmarks Guide, Philippines
If you’re in for a solitary and relaxing escape from all the hustle and bustle of the city streets, then a trip Calamba can give you the much needed break you deserve. This city is a few hours’ drive from the capital city Manila and boasts of its majestic mountain locations, tranquil hot spring resorts and historic landmarks and attractions. Calamba is proud of its scenic country side views.
Serene Hot Springs
Most of Calamba’s recreational facilities and spa centers are located in Barangay Pansol. Mt. Makiling’s hot springs provide a relaxing and rejuvenating experience that can ease any weary mind.
The Laguna Hot Spring Resort is the province’s oldest hot spring attraction with gorging warm waters beneath. It also offers affordable room and hotel rates that really suit the budget.
There are a lot of hot spring attractions around the corners of Calamba. Some locals would recommend the La Vista Pansol, the C3Y Villa Private Hot Spring Resort, the El Castillo and the Grand Bay resorts.
Excellent accommodations and restful hot springs are also featured in the resorts of Pansol Agua Caliente, the Yahweh’s Spring Retreat and Patio Acerado. For business and company travels, the Rockpoint Hotel and Conference Center provides a good venue.
A few kilometers down south of Calamba is the Hidden Valley in Alaminos. It is situated on a volcano crater. There are also a number of hot springs and cold springs along this area with the sight of lush fruit trees and tropical flora.
Wild Waters and Mystic Mountains
For those who crave for extreme adventure, a ride in Laguna’s rapid waters in Lake Caliraya can prove to be a treat. Thrill seekers can go boat riding, sailing, wind surfing or water skiing and feel the adrenaline rush of the waters. Resorts like Sierra Lakes and the Lake Caliraya Country Club offer exceptional accommodations for tourists as well.
Several minutes away from Calamba are the famous Pagsanjan Rapids and Falls and Magdapio Falls. Local guides offer trips along the fast waters in long narrow canoes. The trip offers travelers a unique adventure of one of the country’s most beautiful scenic attractions.
Tourists can also go on mountain hikes and trek the soaring mountains of Mt. Makiling. This legendary dormant volcano retains its mystery with its bountiful forest trees and towering ranges.
A very famous landmark that is not to be missed in Calamba is the Rizal Shrine, a refurbished colonial-style home of Dr. Jose Rizal, the nation’s hero. This ancestral abode features a museum and houses historic antiquities and relics.
The Japanese Memorial Garden commemorates the fallen Japanese soldiers of World War II. It is the site where the Japanese Imperial General Tomoyuki Yamashita was tried and executed. Today, this vast garden park offers a scenic landscape overlooking a lake.
The town of Paete features the Paete Church, an old church dating back to the Spanish era. The town is also famous for its decorative woodcarvings and artistic paper maché, which guests often buy as mementos.
