If you decide to travel by plane, you can land at two different airports depending on where you’re coming from. If your starting point is in another country, you can arrive at Tocumen international Airport, just 25 kilometers from the city. This is one of South America’s busiest airports, and it operates airlines between Ciudad de Panamá and major airports in the US, numerous South American airports such as Santiago, Caracas or Sao Paolo, and even a couple of European destinations such as Madrid and Amsterdam. If you are already in Panama, you can also get to Ciudad de Panamá by plane.

Gelabert Airport, located in the city, operates domestic flights to and from many cities in the country, for example Cartagena and Bogota. You can reach Ciudad de Panamá by train only via Colon, and although the train ride takes longer than a flight, you can admire the country’s rainforests and the Panama Canal. The cheapest and easiest way to get to Ciudad de Panamá is by bus. The national bus company’s services are very good, and the city has the one of the most modern bus stations in South America. The bus terminal is conveniently located in the city centre and there are daily domestic services, as well as several international lines.

The city is quite large, and although you can take a stroll in the city centre, you will need to take the bus or a taxi to reach the more remote neighborhoods.
