To experience nightlife in Abidjan all you have to do is go to Princess Road in Yopougon. Experience African music with live bands in a number of bars and nightclubs along Princess Road. Drink and relax while DJs play African sounds. Club goers are also free to dance to the African beat. The famous spicy chicken prepared along the street adds to the lively African atmosphere. Some regard Princess Road as the center of night activities in the City.
Another place to hang out is located somewhere on the eastern part of the city of Abidjan. It is really a campsite, a lovely one situated near the ocean. The campsite is owned and managed by two foreigners actually by two bothers Jean and Jeannot, both French in origin. It provides a relaxing atmosphere and a chance to get in touch with nature. Visitors can go to the beach where a camping bar is arranged, drink beer or have something to eat, chat with locals while watching the sunset or just stroll around the area for a while before retiring for the night. Some visitors are also free to just sit on the campsite stairs, drink beer and chat with each other or bond with other visitors.
Aside from places to drink, dance and relax, there are also places to eat Ivorian food. Especially during the night, the streets are full of spicy Ivorian foodstuff that you can taste. A word of caution: avoid lengthy discussions, ask the price first before eating anything. Rice yam bread and cassava are the staple food of the place.
The most affordable meal is fish, while there are also European style cuisine in Plateu Cocody, Deux Plateux and Zone 4. These places are usually the hangouts of wealthy and elite group of people in Abidjan. Hotel Banfoura is a good place for visitors and locals serving affordable French cuisine. The rooms also offer great view of the city of Abidjan. Another recommended hotel also is Hotel du Nord.
