Vernon Travel Guide, British Columbia

The city of Vernon is located somewhere in the southern central section of British Columbia (a province in the western side of Canada). The foundation for the city of Vernon was laid somewhere in December 1892 and since then it has grown considerably in terms of economy and tourism. Even the quality of living has also improved heavily in this region of British Columbia due to the increase in average monthly wages of the locals. As per the census of year 2006 the population for the city of Vernon was around 36000 inhabitants and as per the same census of year 2006 the population for the metropolitan region of Vernon was around 56000 inhabitants. The metropolitan region of Vernon is called as Greater Vernon. Locals of Vernon are referred to as Vernonites. RDNO (Regional District of North Okanagan) happens to be a regional district somewhere in the Canadian Province which is called as British Columbia. With the above mentioned huge population the city of Vernon becomes the most populated city when compared to all other cities of Regional District of North Okanagan.

Educational level in the city of Vernon has also improved heavily and as of today the city has around five high schools plus fifteen elementary schools. Okanagan College is one of the best colleges which is used by students to pursue higher studies. There are many other colleges present but Okanagan delivers the best quality of education. The city of Vernon was made part of a school district which includes three cities namely Vernon, Coldstream, Lumby. This proves the importance of educational institutions in the city of Vernon.

The city of Vernon has been gifted with many national level highways due to the economical importance of this city. Some of the famous highways are Highway 97A, Highway 97, and Highway 6. As of now there are around 13 official bus routes which pass through Vernon and enter into neighboring cities. This bus network within the city of Vernon is one of the best methods to travel from one place to the other while visiting the city of Vernon.
