Perth Sights and Landmarks Guide, Australia

Perth may be one of the world’s isolated capitals, but then, it has its contribution of interesting attractions that tourists can visit. Perth offers interesting sights and places to see from museums to animal parks and gardens.

The Swan Bells

Located in the Barrack Square in Perth, the Swan Bell Tower is not to be missed. It remains to be one of Perth’s most-visited attractions since it opened in December 2000. But historically, the twelve of the 18 bells originally came from St.-Martin-in-the-Fields, a church in Trafalgar Square, London. They were cast during the 13th century and were rung when James Cook arrived from his voyage in 1771, after the El Alamein Battle (1942) and at every coronation of a British monarch. The bells were given as a Bicentenary gift to Perth in 1988.

AQWA- Aquarium of Western Australia

For a view of Western Australia’s fantastic water and marine treasures, tourists can visit the Aquarium of Western Australia. It features the country’s largest aquarium and underwater tunnel. Tourists can go snorkeling or scuba diving with the assistance of trained divers and explore the reefs and great wonders of the Indian Ocean and come across to meet sharks and interesting marine creatures.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden

For a more laid back and relaxing outdoor leisure, Kings Park is a great place to experience nature’s green bounty. The park has picnic areas, walkways, and bike areas surrounded by lush gardens and Australian flora. It is within the central city area and near Perth’s main street, the St. Georges Terrace so visitors can also get a view of the Swan River and the city.

Aside from the gardens, guests can visit the memorials and monuments like the War Memorial, Honour Avenues, Fraser Avenue, the Bali Memorial and the Edith Cowan Clock. Kings Park is also home to the Royal King’s Park Tennis Club.

Perth Zoo

The Perth Zoo has been one of Perth’s dynamic and impressive tourist spots since its opening in 1898. Today, it is home to more than 1500 of animal species and 220 exotic and rare Australian species. It is also known to be a conservation agency with its successful breeding programs.

It has five unique zones namely the Asian rainforest, the African Savannah, Australian walkabout, the World of Birds and the Perth Zoo Gardens. Each part of the zoo will give delight to tourists of any age.

Nambung National Park

Beautiful beaches, dune systems on the coast, abundance of shady groves- these are just few of the things to enjoy when you’re in Nambung National Park. At the center of the park are towering limestone pillars called The Pinnacles. This site is considered as one of Australia’s natural landscapes. A natural viewing treasure that is.

Swan Valley Heritage Trail

A view of rich historic Perth can be found on the admirable Swan Valley Heritage Trail. Located in Guilford, a walk to this historic attraction is like a journey to Perth’s notable past. The superb Guilford Hotel, the St. Matthew’s Church, the old Andrew Moulton’s Cottage, and the Guilford Town Wharf are just few of the many fascinating sites that reflect Perth’s culture.

Western Australian Museum

For an experience of arts and appealing ancient past, Perth’s guests can ravel on the exhibits at the Western Australian Museum. Located at the heart of Northbridge, the city’s cultural precinct, the museum elaborates on Western Australia’s ancient and pre-historic past and showcases displays like dinosaurs and Aborigines; and the Australian environment like mammals, birds and various marine species.

Cottesloe Beach

The avid surfer fan can get a load of Perth’s coastal beach waters at Cottesloe Beach. It is a favorite vacation spot for those who just want to spend a warm lazy day with a view of the panoramic ocean seas. Beach house and chalet accommodations are available for tourists.
