The Cave of the Bear is a dripstone cave located at about 70 kilometers from Oradea in the Chiscau village. It was found in 1975.

It got it's name because there were found traces of the Ursus spelaeus - the cave bear - which disappeared 15 thousand years ago.

In the cave the temperature is around 10 degrees Celsius all year long, the humidity of the air is about 97% so be prepared that even if outside were thirty degrees after entering the cave you will need a jacket or a pulover.

There are guided tours organised and you can visit the cave only if you pay for one. The entrance fee is not really high. Sadly the guide speaks very fast and the group is quite big so you don't hear everything he says and you don't have time to admire all the stalagmites and stalagtites in the cave. But this way they avoid people writing on the walls, or breaking these natural formations. You know, everybody wants some souvenirs... and some of them are not satisfied with the ones which can be bought outside...

The tour takes about half an hour, maybe a bit more. When we get outside I was a bit disappointed because I felt I should go in once again :) The picture we took are not so good because we were in hurry all the time, but you should go and see it with your eyes :)
