As per the census of year 2005 the population of Cozumel was around 72000 inhabitants and the larger chunk of this population lives in San Miguel area of the city. Rest of the Cozumel is used for vegetation. As you might have guess by now, the city of Cozumel relies totally on tourism when it comes to economical growth. Although the city used to receive small chunks of tourists due to the presence of the runway which was used in World War II still that wasn’t enough.
