People are friendly and helpful, they even provide you a 'driving liecence' for a motorbike, if you havent got any! So these things make the place worth a short stop.

There are three active archaeological sites in Volos and there are certain areas which are open to the public. For example the Archaeological site of Demetrias which is about 1.5 kilometers south of the city. It was an area where a Hellenistic town was established dating back to the Neolithic times. Just 3 kilometers south of Volos is a hill where the palace of Demetrios Poliokretes, King of Macedonia once stood. Also around this area stands the chapel of Ayios Ilias.
