Population: 16 million

Major Airports: Miami International Airport - Miami (MIA), Fort Lauderdale International Airport - Forth Lauderdale (FLL), Orlando International Airport - Orlando (MCO), Palm Beach International Airport - Palm Beach (PBI), Tampa international Airport - Tampa (TPA), Jacksonville International Airport - Jacksonville (JAX), Boca Raton Airport - Boca Ration (BCT), Daytona Beach Intl. Airport - Dayton (DAB).

When to Go: Spring is the best time of the year to visit as the weather is the most consistent. Summer offers warm ocean water and scattered showers in the afternoon and occasionally electrical storms light up the sky. Fall is hurricane season and the high season come around in winter where hotel prices skyrocket, though restaurant prices remain fairly consistent. Florida is also about Walt Disney World and best times to visit are mid-December before the holidays as holiday decorations are up, the temperatures are down, as well as, smaller crowds and shorter lines.

Getting There: Almost every region of Florida is served by a major airport making it very convenient to touch down at exactly where you want to be in Florida.

Getting Around:

Miami provides visitors with the Metrorail system which links to the Metromover looping around the city making stops at major points of interest. The MetroBus is also available. If you are traveling outside of Miami city take the Tri-Rail system, which goes as far north as West Palm Beach. However, it can take you much longer by Tri-Rail then by car. So renting car is by far the fastest way to get outside of Miami to places like Boca Raton, Coral Gables or Palm Beach, but be careful, Miami's intersections have been reported to be among the most dangerous in the country.

Orlando is quite spread out, driving can be challenge due to the many one-way streets. So take advantage of your hotel shuttle services to the major attractions. Taxis are also readily available from the airport, hotel lobbies and main tourist areas.

Jacksonville Nightlife

Jacksonville, FL, United StatesThe Pete’s Bar has two rooms and a long bar along with a pool, foosball tables and ping pong tables. There are no laws about smoking in Jacksonville, FL US and Pete’s Bar is quite smoky during the nights. The crowd here is a mix of spouses looking for an escape from their home life, old-time drinking people and vigorous youths who just like to be in this non-pretentious atmosphere. This bar is much more energetic and lively after midnight. The Sun Dog is a local’s hangout place where live bands of art deco setting are featured in the nights. It is the city’s anchor bar and a place to visit any time any night. It is also one of the... Read more »
