Sonkolyos is a recreation area on the banks of the river Crisul Repede. Offering rocks for climbing, a large place for tents, bathing possibilitiy in the river; the place is very popular among the people in the region.

There are some caves and hills beside the river.

We spent two days with some friends there. We slept in a tent which was very exciting for the kids. The only problem was the lack of toilets and hygiene rules were not respected by some fellow excursionists.

We cooked some tasty gulyas soup in a pot on the open fire.

I took my boat on the river which offered a lot of fun. The river is at that place not that fast, almost like a lake so we could row easily.

There is a rock coming out of the water straight up like a wall, which is quite spectacular.

In the future, most likely, you will have to pay for camping. hopefully this fact will improve hygiene in the area.

Turda Travel guide

The local flora is rich in oak forests and hornbeams mixed with hazels and white horns. An important surface is used in agriculture and it is cultivated with cereals, fruit trees, vines and more. On the river valley one can find beautiful grasslands mixed with characteristic tree species like willow, alders and poplars. Fauna is just as diverse and represented by different bird species like the pheasant, blackbird and more. The Aries River is populated with barbell and chub, very appreciated by local fishermen.Turda, Travel Guide – Population An old city dating back from Roman times when it was called Potaissa, Turda has a population...
