Bad experiences in Valletta, Malta

1. The website says 'but also respecting your privacy as well as providing the full intimacy and warmth of your own home.' - there are open stairs that lead straight down to the owners appartment. You only had to look down to see the top of his head. We could hear him sneeze, open the fridge, and his dog whine when he wasn't home. We came here on a honeymoon, and unfortunately didn't get any privacy. See attached photo of the hole in the floor - you can also see from this photo the general unfinished nature of the accomodation. Also there is major construction happening within 5 meters of the unit, see additional photo. There is no privacy afforded by the lift, as when the 'Patron' takes it up to your floor the door opens and catches you unawares.
2. The advert says air conditioning is included, but you have to read further down the advertisement to work out that air conditioning actually will cost you an extra 20 euros a day (for two people). The 'Patron' didn't mention this to us when we made the booking even though we probably made it for the height of summer. You can see from the photos that there are many windows and it would get unbearably hot in the sun.
3. The website says 'Throughout the apartment, the quality of materials used stands out - from the luxurious linens and silks to the fluffy towels and bathrobes.' - the bed has a plastic sheet on it that makes sleeping uncomfortable, and unfinished architraves and painting.
4. The advert mentions that it provides 'high end lodging' the only thing 'high end' about it was the price.
