Among other things, Miami is a city that has a reputation of being an international trade and transport hub. For 500 years, since the Spanish admiral Pedro Menéndez founded the city, Miami has been bursting at the seams with trade. Being the main Spanish connection to the northern part of the New World, its port became a crucial location and it soon became one of the busiest in Northern America. Following the tradition of the city’s naval trade importance, Miami’s International Airport (MIA) became a key transport and trade hub in the United States.

To give you an idea of what sort of traffic the Miami International Airport has to deal with, here are the numbers: 4,100 passengers per hour, 100,000 per day, 3 million per month, 35-36 million per year. That’s quite a feat and it actually brings MIA in the top 3 for largest airports in terms of catered passengers (the first two positions are occupied by Los Angeles’ LAX and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport).
Being located around 13 kilometers from downtown Miami, the airport is easy to reach to and from, especially since you have a lot of ground transportation options (various taxi companies, limousine service, rent a car, public transportation, etc). If you’re travelling from Miami to the airport, simply go West on the 836 until you see the airport ahead, then take a right turn after Miami’s Melreese Golf Course. You can’t miss it, it’s huge and it’s very close to the highway.
But let’s get back to why you’re really here (hopefully): finding cheap flights to Miami. As you could see, MIA is always packed with people, which means there are a lot of airlines operating there. Lots of airlines also means more competition, which translates into sweeter deals and cheaper ticket prices. Unfortunately, the downside is that if you’re being given a varied offer, it’s difficult to swift through the garbage to find the good deals. Well, we’ve done some of the work for you, at least for some locations that have Miami as a popular destination. Those prices should give you an idea on how much you would need to spend in the upcoming months, but if the locations you’re interested in aren’t in the table, please use our meta search engine to look for the best deals.

The first thing that comes to mind about Miami is its beaches, tropical weather, great tans and bikinis, but the place is much more than that. After spending an entire day on water, you can visit one of the spas out there in the evening and with a gentle massage, relieve your body and soul. Miami has to offer various other interesting and cool things as it is packed with exciting activities that are ideal for couples, teenagers, kids as well as adults.... (read more)
