The Pantheon was built for the first time in the year 27 AD bt Agrippa, but suffered a serious fire in year 80 so that was rebuilt in the same form by the Emperor Hadrian in 127. In the year 609 the Pantheon came into the custody of the pope Bonifaciu the forth who transformed the it in a Christian church naming it Santa Maria dei Martiri a name which remained until today. The Pantheon name comes from Greek and means "temple of all gods". That was transformed into the church helped enormously to conserve it, because it was hidden / protected from damage, thieves, abandonment, and thus become famous today for how to fully preserved since antiquity without being restored with the passage of years. This building is one of the greatest inventions novels: the dome

Has a circular shape with a diameter equal to the height of 43.5 m and is the largest building of its kind in the world. The wall thickness at the base is 6.4 m and at the opening is only 0.7 m, the diameter of the opening is 9.1 m and it is the eye itself and is the only source of natural light.

Rome Sights

Rome, ItalyOne of the oldest cities in the world, Rome has been dubbed ‘the eternal city’ and ranks high in the list of the most preferred holiday destinations in the world. The Colosseum is on every tourist’s agenda, and for good reason. A day pass costs 11 euros, but if you want to take your time exploring, get a seven day pass for 22 euros instead. This gives you access to the Colosseum as well as everything from Palatine Hill to the catacombs. A guided tour is not really recommended since the queues are endless, and you don’t really get to know anything from the guides that you can’t get out of your travel book or... Read more »
