The monastery, that has been built 500 years ago, is one of the most amazing sights in Portugal. Its unique architecture, its white 'clean' stone exterior and beautiful interior, not to mention that the famous Portuguese explorer is buried there, conveyed the place an international fame. So it was no wonder we wanted to see this amazing building for ourselves. And it proved everything it was said about it, and more.

The building is enormous, white and really beautiful. The only misfortune we had was that we went on a Sunday, so the whole place was very crowded and we weren't able to roam the grounds on a leisurely level. But apart from that, it IS a sight worth visiting!

You can get there with several buses (27, 28, 29, etc) and the tram 15.
