Founded in 1872, Bismarck remains to be the capitalof North Dakota region ever since it actually gained the statehood in 1889.

As Bismarck is situated over the Great Plains, amidst the Great lakes and the Rocky Mountains, it has a mixed climate. The climate is actually characterized by cold and long winters having an average rainfall. The summers are quite warm, humid and hot. Thunderstorms are also experienced in summer and spring, while in general, the climate is quite dry. July is the warmest month, January being the coldest; December is the driest while the month of June is the wettest of all. There is annual rainfall of 430 mm and annual snowfall of 1000 mm per season.

As Bismarck is centrally located in North Dakota, it has become a very important hub for transportation. The Municipal Airport stands southwards in the city having the biggest number of passengers. The railway also runs east- west via the city and serves most of the passengers who look for cheap transportation. There are 2 federal highways as well that make it very easy to reach the place.

Bismarck city hosts the great Native American cultural events like the amazing United Tribes International Pow Wow. Many tribes are represented in it and there are spectacular drum and dance performances at this award winning festival. Then Annual International Indian Art Expo is also held which features great artists from native America along with immense frolic including songs, dance, and music along with storytelling.
