West Yellowstone Nightlife, Montana

No matter how few streets there are in West Yellowstone MT, one has to keep in mind that wilderness gets pretty scary at night, so most of the visitors in Yellowstone National Park drive back to the nearby towns at nightfall. Therefore, as rustic as it might seem, West Yellowstone hosts plenty of bars, taverns, restaurants and pubs, where local specialties as buffalo hamburgers or elk steaks must definitely be tasted.

West Yellowstone Nightlife - Restaurants

Many of the restaurants in West Yellowstone offer affordable local dishes and a cozy atmosphere, with pictures and antiquities hanging on the walls and friendly staff. So are the Iron Horse Saloon, the Three Bears, the Grizzly Lounge, the Outpost Restaurant or the Oregon Short Line, to mention the most popular. There are a lot of dinners and fast-foods, like Arbey’s, McDonald’s or Subway, as well as a number o pizza houses: Wild West Pizzeria or Gusher Pizza and Sandwich Shop. One of the most appreciated restaurants between locals and connoisseurs, Eino’s Tavern is located only 9 miles north of the town’s center, near Hegben Lake Basin. It offers a terrific atmosphere, being famous for allowing customers to cook their own steaks and burgers.

West Yellowstone Nightlife – Pubs and Events

If you’re into more urban pleasures you can watch a movie (here you can choose between the IMAX and the Bear Den Cinema), or a show (Playmill Theater is only open during summer season). Most of the time, West Yellowstone nightlife revolves around concerts, rodeo competitions and, surprisingly, around shopping.

Being a touristy town par excellence, West Yellowstone keeps its shops open until late at night, as moods change and appetites vary a lot. Except the numerous gift shops, there are a couple of outlets that shouldn’t be missed, especially by the end of summer, when they sell outdoor equipment for incredibly small prices. Among the places that offer live music are Stagecoach Bar and the bar at the West Yellowstone Conference Center. Strozzi’s is another popular bar, where most of the locals hang out.

West Yellowstone Nightlife – Authentic Western Atmosphere

The West Yellowstone nightlife may be busy, but if you’re looking for DJ’s, fancy clubs and state of the art design, this is not the place. Here you can have a decent dinner, enjoy some beer after a strenuous hike or listen to live music, all these in the most western style. People tend to dress casually, because most of the upscale restaurants are located either in the Park, either in the nearby area (check out the Jackson Hole Travel Guide, Bozeman Travel Guide or Idaho Falls Travel Guide).

Nights are cold here even in summer, so it is the tourist’s impressions, the cheerfulness of the locals, a game of pool, a hearty meal and a cold beer that bring so much life to this miniature Western town.
