Worcester, MA US - Overview

Worcester is a county town and a city of Worcestershire, West Midlands, England. It is situated in the central Massachusetts and is about 72 km westwards of Boston. This town was established on 14 June, 1722 as a town and was given the status of a city on 29 February, 1848. Having over 172,648 residents, it accounts as the second most largest of the cities of New England.

 Being a home to about nine universities and colleges, Massachusetts Bio- Technology Research Park and other institutions, Worcester is a great place to pursue educational and professional qualifications and opportunities. Apart from this, Worcester is also known far and wide for its beautiful environs, recreational activities and amazing entertainment facilities.

The Higgins Armory Museum

This is the sole museum that is dedicated only to the arms, art and armor collection. There are over 5000 objects that are displayed on four floors and is a major attraction among most of the tourists.

Ecotarium

This is a wonderful museum for nature and science. there is great zoo that has polar bears, there is a kid sized train that runs on diesel and a lot more of activities that render it as a must visit place. The tree walkway and the planetarium add to its further charm.

Worcester Art Museum

The Worcester Art Museum has a great deal of exhibits that enchant and mesmerize the visitors like anything. These art pieces can be seen for free on the Saturdays before 12 o clock. The best part is that the students and those kids, who are yet not 17, can view the lovely exhibits for absolutely free.

Worcester Union Station

This is a great work of exquisite art and takes pride in showing off the culture and history of the place. The thirty foot high ceilings and the marble walls add to its splendor.

Burnside Fountain

It is located southwards and is called as “The Turtle Boy Love Statue” by the locals. This fountain features one boy and turtle who are engaged in a supposedly obscene act. Different people have different opinions regarding the pose shared by them and hence this has become a great attraction among people.
