Portland Nightlife, Maine
Portland nightlife is really hot and happening. The city, especially the Old Port area has many bars/pubs and restaurants which serve some of the best ales/wines and seafood. The city, moreover, boasts of a very active music scene with regular/weekly live night-time music shows held at different music venues and clubs. Portland also has a comedy club named Comedy Connection, where comedy shows are held on a regular basis.
The best thing about Portland nightlife is that most of the entertainment venues even allow younger kids and children; so, you can easily go to the different venues with your children in tow. Portland nightlife comes to an end at 1.00 A.M. and you have plenty of opportunities to have fun.
Portland Nightlife – Bars & Pubs
Portland, Maine has a large Irish population and there are many Irish pubs and taverns in the vicinity. Brian Boru, with its laid-back ambiance is a great option. Apart from serving some great food and drinks, the downtown bar also offers live music. The two-storey bar has patios with excellent views of the bay.
Bull Feeney’s is another popular haunt. The place has the best varieties of Irish whiskies and scotch. If you want to listen to some live music, be there on Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays.
The Una Winebar (better known as UNAS) has the best collection of Martinis. Then, there is Gritty McDuffs; although the place is small, it treats you to its in-house brewed beer. Besides, there are hosts of other watering holes in Portland like Old Port Tavern and Three Dollar Deweys. Most of these venues serve some kind of food along with the drinks; plus, there is arrangement for more entertainment in the form of dance-floors, DJ music and live band music.
Portland Nightlife – Area Clubs and Live Shows
There are many clubs in the Portland area and Asylum, Foreplay, Iguana, Liquid Blue, The Big Easy, The Billiards, The Pavilion are just a few of these. Many of these clubs have bar/pub facilities but it must be noted that they cater to different segments of club-goers/gatherings. Thus, Asylum and Foreplay are basically sports bars, while Liquid Blue and The Billiards are dance clubs. Again, while Iguana is the right option for college-going crowd, The Big Easy is a favorite with older crowd. But the one thing that is common to all these clubs is that they are all a part of the city’s music scene. These clubs invite local as well as internationally acclaimed artists to enthrall you with their performances. Go to a show and enjoy Portland nightlife!
