Ashland is a city in Boyd County in Kentucky, nestled on the Ohio River banks and serves as a major medical and economic center for the north-eastern Kentucky. Ashland has all the four seasons, with occasional snow during winter and vivid foliage during the fall. July is the hottest month while January is the coldest month of the year.

Ashland Transportation

Ashland Regional Airport is located north of Ashland in Worthington and is widely used for charter services and general aviation. Tri-State Airport in Cerebo, West Virginia, offers commercial aviation for Ashland. Amtrak is the national system of passenger rail, providing services to the city of Ashland. Cardinal is the only Amtrak railway line that comes to Ashland. Greyhound Lines is the only bus transportation service provider out of the city and it operates from the Ashland Transportation Center. The bus system of the city offers many lines including a downtown loop serving post office, Melody Mountain shopping area, Ashland Town Centre mall and Ashland Transportation Center. Other lines include crow town line, 13th street line, 29th street line and Catlettsburg line. US 60, US 23 and several other state routes serve the city through road and it is in the proximity of Interstate 64 and US 52 also.

Ashland Culture:

Paramount Arts Center is a movie theatre which was formerly an art deco. It has been located on the Winchester Avenue and serves as a significant venue for arts in the eastern Kentucky and also the neighboring states of West Virginia and Ohio. Its Festival of Trees is celebrated every year during winter and it is the area where the Achy Breaky Heart video of Billy Ray Cyrus was taped. Among its several exhibits, the Highlands Museum & Discovery Center pays a tribute to local musical artists including Billy Ray Cyrus from Flatwoods and Judds of Ashland. The art produced in Pendleton Art Center include paintings, carved gourds, wood carvings and stained glass made by the local artists.

Ashland Entertainment:

There are several amusement parks and playgrounds in the city including Central Park, Clyffeside Park and AK Steel Sports Park. Central Park features three children playgrounds, volleyball court, bandstand and many baseball diamonds. Clyffeside Park also features many baseball diamonds and it has been located near the 39th street along the Winchester Avenue. The AK Steel Sports Park was constructed in 2004 along the Blackburn Avenue. It features many soccer fields, baseball diamonds and one skate park.
