Salinas History, California

Salinas, CA US is actually the largest municipality and county seat of the Monterey County. This suburban city of Salinas is situated at the very mouth of Salinas Valley and is approximately 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean. In 1867, this place saw the establishment of one post office with Salinas city being laid out. The city was actually incorporated a decade later. It got the name Salinas from the Spanish word for salty marsh, Salinas.
