Glendale, CA US - Overview

Glendale is a city in Los Angeles, California. It is a suburb of Greater Los Angeles Area. The Foothill freeways, Ventura and Golden state run through the city. The population of this city is approximately 300,000 inhabitants.

The Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery is a famous style cemetery containing the remains of many local residents and celebrities. A long time ago, this area was inhabited by Tongva people.

An important booster was the Leslie Coombs Brand who built an estate in 1904. The architectural wonders were constructed featuring the characteristics of Moorish, Indian and Spanish Style. The Forest Lawn Memorial Park established in 1917. A famous endocrinologist and entrepreneur established his clinic in 1920. This clinic was the largest business center in this city for many years. The American Red Cross Society formed in 1926.

Glendale was selected as West Coast Headquarters by American Nazi Party. Glendale central airport developed in 1923 and it became one of the major employers for many years. The central airport also contributed to the development of aviation in the United States. Several corporate companies have their offices in Glendale.

Some of the notable natives in Glendale are John Cho, actor, CEO of Neopets, Edward Furlong, actor, Scott Gorham, musician, Rafi Manoukian, politician, Debra Jo Rupp, actress and Nick Evans, a major league ball player.

Glendale has several sister cities including Higashiosaka, Japan, Rosarito Beach, Baja California, Mexico and Kapan America.

Glendale has a number of restaurants, nightclubs, bars, pubs, theatres, zoo, theme parks, museums and wonderful natural landscapes that attract millions of tourists from all over the world. Due to its archeological wonders and natural landscapes, it has become one of the favorite tourism destinations in the United States.

Some of the wonderful attractions in Glendale are Moonlight Rollerway, Scholl Canyon Golf Club, Brand Library and Art Centre, Glendale Central Library, Autry Museum of Western Heritage, Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens, Alex Theatre, Glendale Civic Auditorium and Glendale Centre Theatre.

Glendale is also a home to many popular hotels including Chariot Inn, Victory Motel Inn, Ninety Nine Palms Motel, Hilton Los Angeles North Glendale, Glen Capri Inn & Suites - Colorado Street, Savoy Motel and Econo Lodge Glendale.
