Mesa History, Arizona

Mesa, AZ US - History: How Historical Perspective of Mesa has blossomed With Time? The history of Mesa is all about the Spanish expeditions, mysterious Indians, American explorers and Mormon migrations. A diverse and largely spread community along with the continuous growth enhances the historical significance of Mesa. At the same time, families and individuals have played an important role in developing Mesa.

 Hohokam Indians

 Mesa’s history started from the Hohokam Indians, at least 200 years back. The meaning of their names is “Departed ones” and they had only constructed the canal system in Mesa. During the 1600’s, the explorers and the missionaries had come to Mesa. Before the Mormons arrived in Mesa, the descendants of Hohokam, also called as the Pima Indians had settled in Mesa. 

First company in Mesa

The establishment of the first company at Mesa comprised only of 85 members, who had left Idaho and Utah. Robson, Sirrine, Pomeroy and Crismon were few of the company leaders. At the same time, there still lingers confusion regarding the name of Mesa, as different names were used by the post master. However, some of the reliable resources reveal that “Mesa city” was the real and most used name for the city.

 Mesa Following the Second World War

With the initiation of the Second World War, the Williams air force base and the falcon Field airport were constructed to train the pilots. During this time, many military families had decided to settle in Mesa. Thus, tourism began as a very important force after the 1940’s in Mesa. After 1950, more of commerce and trade was added to the economic enhancement of Mesa. More than 100 firms got established along with the aerospace companies. Simultaneously better heath facilities were also added to the growth of the city. Thus, over the years, both the economic and historical perspective of Mesa has witnessed a welcoming transformation. This has fortunately led to the inhabitation of more people in the city and a better cultural significance. Even, the historical perspective of Mesa has blossomed within a short time. Now, it is counted amongst the popular city of Arizona and has several attractions where people can enjoy both during the daytime and night too.
