Dothan, Alabama is considered a favorite by a lot of tourists because of the amazingly attractions it can offer. Dothan became one of the cities of Alabama in 1985 and as such it continues to prove that it deserves recognition as a city. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of tourist attractions in Dothan Sights. Here are some of the best ones to go to.

Dothan Sights – Structures and Edifices

When tourists look for places to go to in a certain city, they will certainly want to know more about old structures and edifices. Dothan Sights has a list of these attractions that are not only captivating, but entertaining as well.

Dothan Opera House. The 14 wall painting of Dothan are within walking distance from each other, but it comes into view when the curtain in the Dothan Opera House is pushed aside.

Steamboat Era Wall Painting. This is one of the murals that cover the brick walls in the downtown area of Dothan. The wall painting depicts the 1800’s river transportation way to Houston County.

Porter Hardware. This is an old structure located at 136 Main Street. It is open for business from Monday to Friday, 7 to 5 pm. It had been operating ever since 1889 and the structure has not altered since then.

Wiregrass Museum of Art. This houses some of the greatest and beautiful art pieces of the city. The museum offers artifacts that are sure to captivate the hearts of every traveler.

Peanuts around Town. If you happen to visit Dothan City, make sure that you visit this site because of the 51 super-size PlexiGlass peanuts that are spread out surrounding the city. While in this site, you can also see Uncle Sam’s statue adorned in red, white, and blue top hats and tails outside the CBS associate TV station.

Elvis Nut. This is also a common and popular site you can see at the grounds of Dothan’s Days Inn alongside with the Super 8 Motel.

Dothan Sights – Natural Attractions

Aside from the landmarks mentioned above, there are also other natural attractions you can find in Dothan. The following sights are part of the list.

Arboretum. This is one of the botanic beauties you can visit that houses different kinds of therapeutic, scented, and kitchen herbs situated in the four regions of the garden.

Landmark Park. This is another kind of open-air beauty that holds different kinds of festivities such as Spring Farm Festival, celebrated in the month of March and Wiregrass Heritage Festival that happens in October.

Azalea-Dogwood Trail. If you want to stroll or drive around you can take this trail which is indicated by pinkish-lavender narrow piece zigzagging all through the city’s Garden. You can view its breathtaking sights in late March wherein the flowering plants are in complete bloom.

Just like in any other place in the United States, Dothan has also its own share of malls and shopping centers. You can visit their Visitor Center for proper information regarding the different establishments you may visit while in Dothan.
