Poole, UK - Sights: Ensuring a great vacation In Poole

Located in the county of Dorset, Poole overlooks the Poole Harbor and the Holes Bay. This seaside town is known for the sandy beaches, and various parks & gardens that are located there. The town also happens to be a busy industrial and commercial centre.

There are many famous tourist attractions in Poole that are known to attract innumerable visitors to the town and include:

Brownsea Island

This island is located at the entrance of the Poole Harbor and offers great views across the Purbeck Hills and Studland. It has a great history behind it and was used as a coastguard station in the past. During World War II, the island was used as decoy to protect the town of Poole. It was also used by Baden Powell for holding the experimental camp of Scouting and Guiding. A good number of red squirrels and seabirds can be seen at the island.

Waterfront Museum

People can get an idea about the history of Poole for the last two thousand years by paying a visit to the museum. Some of the popular displays in the museum include a scene from the street, pottery of the town, details of the time when the town was occupied by the Romans, the Studland Bay Wreck, ship models and many other displays.

Upton Country Park

This park is located on the northern shore of the Poole harbor. Visitors can have a great time visiting the park and get to experience the wildlife and nature present in there. Of the various sights that one gets to enjoy while in the Upton Country Park, the Upton House happens to be the most important.

Compton Acres Garden

The ten acres of gardens that is known as the Compton Acres Garden, happens to be one of the most popular tourist spots in entire Britain. Visitors can also have a great time visiting the several restaurants and shopping destinations that are located around this famous garden.

Scaplen’s Court

This museum is used mainly for educational trips organized for school and college students. Various displays and events are held here, which are exclusively meant for the general public.

Farmer Palmer’s

This tourist attraction is meant for little children, who can have a great time feeding animals and playing here. Some of the attractive features of the tourist spot include bouncy castles, straw mountains that have tunnels and slides, pedal tractors and many other similar attractions.
