Derby, located in United Kingdom, is enveloped by River Derwent and Derbyshire. Though it has been conferred with the “city” status in the year 1977 by Queen Elizabeth, this urban place has an impressive account of entertainment, nightlife, sports and landmarks. With more than 225,000 inhabitants, it is known as the eighteenth largest urban settlement situated in England.

History

The city has its own impressive historical significance with reflections of civil war, industrial revolution and advent of engineering. Several renowned philosophers, scientists, doctors and painters belong to Derby.

Derby is also one of the renowned cultural centers in UK, especially for the deaf communities.  The concept of sign language and its usage has mushroomed tremendously in this area, attracting large number of deaf populations across the globe. This city has also been regarded as one of the best cities in the world to live in after retirement. After London, it is assumed that Derby has the largest population of deaf people, even three times higher than when compared to the national average.
