Delaware Travel Guide

Delaware (surnamed The First State or The Small Wonder) is an eastern state of the United States of America, bordered by Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the Atlantic Ocean. The second smallest state (ranked as the 49th with 5, 328 km²) is populated by 830, 364 habitants (as per 2004 census). Its capital Dover is not as populated as Wilmington.

Situated on the Delmarva Peninsula, Delaware is composed mainly of inshore plains and swampy or sandy lands; the highest point barely reaches 137 m altitude. On the ocean there are many sand beaches and also several lagoons. The most important ports are Wilmington, New Castle and Lewes.

Due to its location, the climate of Delaware is tempered by the ocean, having a subtropical climate with hot and humid summers and mild winters, though the center of the state can witness some snow.

Delaware - whose slogan is Liberty and Independence – is best known by nonlocals as being a fiscal paradise, as a company sustains only a minimal all-included taxation (approximately 250$). The locals also profit from this having to pay only a 2, 2% up to 5, 95 % tax and there is neither VTA nor any consumption tax.
