The energy capital of this planet, the city of Houston is said to be the leading purchaser of eco energy. Around one fourth of the total energy purchased by Houston City is wind energy. All these factors have immensely helped the environmental conditions of Houston. The city of Houston is located on the coastal plain of Gulf and most of the city temperature is similar to that of forests. It is so as a huge chunk of this city land was built on forests, swamps, marshes, and prairies. The remains of these are still available in and around the city of Houston.

The major water bodies of Houston are the 4 bayous which pass through this city. White Oak Bayou runs towards the downtown area of Houston, Buffalo Bayou runs to the Houston Ship Channel, Braes Bayou which passes through the Texas Medical Center, and lastly the Sims Bayou which is part of the Southern section of Houston. The Houston Ship Channel falls into the Gulf of Mexico and is another important water body for this happening city. Originally Buffalo Bayou is the original Bayou for this city and the other three (the White Oak Bayou, Sims Bayou, and the Braes Bayou) are the ones which are tributaries for the larger Braes Bayou.

Houston happens to be the city with the highest population for the state of Texas in US. Houston is also the fourth most populated city for U.S.A. It is spread over an area of 1600 kilometer square and has a population of around 2.2 million inhabitants as per the consensus of year 2001. The population of the metropolitan area of Houston is around 5.7 million inhabitants and this is also the largest metropolitan areas amongst all in US.

Houston faces tornadoes regularly like the rest of US. The highest temperature during the summers is around 32 degree Celsius or more while the humidity is much higher in terms of the city temperature. During summers the humidity is around 90 percent during morning hours while the humidity is around 60 percent during the noon hours. To fight with heat air conditioners are used in almost every corner of the city. During the year 1980 this US city was declared as the place which uses most number of air conditioners on this planet. The highest temperature which has ever been recorded in this city was 43 degree Celsius somewhere in September 2000.

This city is a major political hub and its economical growth has given it important place on the tourism map of United States of America. All in all the city of Houston is growing quickly and is amongst the best cities of this planet.
