Memphis TN Sights
Memphis is a Mecca for sightseers. One could go on and on and not see everything the city has to offer. It ranges from arts to sports, from indoor to outdoor. It is a maze of delight which takes you by the hand and fills you with excitement. We will tell you about some because we cannot fit them all.
The Overton Square Entertainment District offers 8 restaurants, entertainment venues and retail shops. You will find that there is always something going on there, including car shows and theatres. The next is the Beale Street Entertainment District which has the reputation of being the best blues entertainment anywhere. It is home to a number of clubs.
The Brooks Museum of Arts is located in Overton Park. It has art pieces ranging back and was opened first in 1916. It has an auditorium, art classrooms and a museum store which sells replicas of its displays.
Elvis Presley’s Graceland Mansion is in Memphis. You can see his Pink Cadillac among other things. You also get to see all the trophies including his gold records, his elaborate costumes for stage and the movies. If you are so inclined you can pay homage at the meditation garden.
The Mallory Neely House was built in 1852 and is open for viewing from March to December. It has hand painted ceilings and it is three storeys high. There are also a lot of museums including the children’s museum and the civil rights museum. Memphis Music Hall of Fame is a very popular place in Memphis.
“The father of the water”, as the Mississippi river is fondly called, is a great attraction. People marvel at its sheer size and majesty as it rolls down. It has a large recreational area and is used in a number of commercial ventures, too.
The FedEx Forum is an NBA park and it hosts a number of other cultural events. The AutoZone Park is a baseball venue and home to the Memphis Redbirds. The pyramid arena is a combination sports plus entertainment center.
The Memphis Motorsports Park runs from March to November and it hosts Nascar and Drag Racing along with some other special events. If you want a more carnival type of entertainment the Libertyland Amusement Park is there with 24 different kinds of rides. So whatever you want is available in Memphis, Tennessee.
