Cleveland sits on the southern banks of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River – a city of high quality of life, green parks, lively neighborhoods and historic buildings. Cleveland is a destination for the seasoned traveler, with a wide variety of budget, moderate and luxury hotels, motels, and other accommodations, spectacular new attractions, a rich and vibrant performing arts community, and world-renowned culture and museums.
The best time to visit Cleveland is between May and October. During this period, you could enjoy the many restaurants, picnic in the surrounding state, national and municipal parks (that have access in the heart of the city), or gather around the barbecue for casual entertaining. But don't let the weather stop you. In winter, the city’s cultural attractions include: theater, symphony, opera and museums. If that's not enough to keep you moving, you can visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Cleveland Zoo, Sea World and the Geauga Lake Park amusement park. Another popular recreation is Lake Erie with some of the best perch, walleye, and bass fishing in the world, parasailing, swimming, boating, scuba diving, jet skiing, and canoeing.
One very special event that has captured tourist for the last 25 years is the Champ Car Grand Prix of Cleveland. This event is held at the Burke Lakefront Airport in late June. Also, don’t miss the annual Cleveland International Film Festival held in late March.
To get a spectacular view of the city get aboard ships like the Majestic, the Goodtime III, and the Nautical Queen dinner cruise ship or take Lolly the Trolley. This trolley features narrated city tours that explain the city’s history and architecture. If you’d rather get some exercise, pick up a “Walk Cleveland” brochure from one of Cleveland’s Visitor’s Centers and explore Cleveland on foot. And for the adventuress, try an aerial view of the city by chartering a helicopter ride.
Visitors, especially, are often surprised to discover a vibrant Downtown with distinct neighborhoods and a lively urban atmosphere. Unlike many American cities, Cleveland’s Downtown is not only lively, it is the focal point around which the rest of the city nestles. In the middle of the Downtown area are the historic Public Square, a European-style square with statues and fountains, Theater District, the Historic Warehouse District, the Flats Entertainment District and the Historic Gateway District, all of these being only a few of the trendy spots that continue to grow and prosper.
With over 85 hotels and a dozen Bed and Breakfast inns, Cleveland has the perfect place to rest your head. Whether you’re looking for a budget hotel or a luxury hotel like the Ritz-Carlton or Renaissance Cleveland Hotel, Cleveland has them all. Whichever you prefer, Cleveland has a hotel or other type of accommodations that is suited just for you. Hotels in Cleveland vary in price based on season and during the holidays.
When planning your next vacation, don't overlook Cleveland, Ohio. Cleveland is full of fun and interesting things to do and with these many attractions, you may want to spend a couple more days to take it all in Cleveland.
