There are many things that you can see and do in Boston because of its historic and cultural background. One of the many museums that you can visit is the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, which is a smaller version of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is also one of the most expensive museums that you can find in the United States. The museum is the home of the second biggest artwork collection in its hemisphere and it is known for its assortment of paintings by French Impressionists, having the biggest collection of Monet paintings outside Paris. It also has the largest collection of Japanese art outside Japan.
The Harvard Museum of Natural History is another popular museum that has been attracting tourist for almost 100 years with its collection of Glass Flowers. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum also has beautiful floral displays and a collection of eclectic objects from Europe. In 1990, this was the site for a painting heist.
The MIT Museum is a museum that explores innovation, ideas, and inventions and is the home of a renowned collection of architecture and design, holography, science and technology, history and nautical engineering, as well as ongoing and changing exhibitions, engaging public programs, and hands-on activities. The Peabody Museum of Archeology and Ethnology is one of the world's oldest museums that is devoted to anthropology. It is the home of one of the most comprehensive records of cultural history for the Western Hemisphere.
If you are interested in aquariums, the New England Aquarium is the place to go. It is home to one of the largest fish tanks in the world, and used to be in the Guinness Book of World Records. This place is great for kids of any age, and they give tours for whale watching as well. It costs $18.95 for adults, $16 for students, and $10.95 for children 3 to 11 years old.
There is one gallery that is worth a visit in Boston, called Panopticon Gallery. This gallery was established in 1971 and is one of the United States' oldest galleries that is dedicated only to photography. This gallery specializes in American Photography of the 20th century, as well as emerging contemporary photography.
There is also the Boston Harbor Islands State Park, where you can take a ferry to tour Fort Warren and Georges Island; the Arnold Arboretum, which is the oldest in North America, as well as one of the leading centers for studying plants in the world; and the Boston Common and Public Garden, where there is plenty to do to keep anyone busy.
