Fort Wayne IN US- History:  

Fort Wayne is one of the beautiful cities with a wonderful history and it is situated in the Eastern Indiana states of US. It is also the second largest city in Indiana after Indianapolis.

Fort Wayne has a long history and it has withstood some unforgettable events until it obtained the present form. How it became one of the largest cities in US is a long story that includes migration and various other events.

A settlement was established by Miami Nation at Maume, and St. Marys in the name of Kekionga by the middle of the 17 century. It was the capital city of the entire Miami nation as well as the surrounding Algonquin tribes. Some historians also believe that around 1676, priest and missionaries from France visited Miami while returning from a secret mission. During 1680, a post was established in this area as it was a portage between the huge Mississippi river and the Great Lake. The French also made the first fort and it was named, Fort Miami in 1697. The name of the fort was replaced to Fort St. Phillippe des Miamis in 1721 after the death of a great bishop called Jean Bissot. The city was also the reason for anxiety amid France and United Kingdom. However in 1760, the British force won the French and the Indian war and the city was under the British rule as well as the name of the territory was replaced Fort Miami.

Around 1763, American natives rebelled against the British Empire and the fort was recovered under the Pontiac’s Rebellion. Again in 1790, United States’ armies secured Indiana under the order of President George Washington. The United States army was annihilated by the Miami warrior during the first few battles. Later, Anthony Wayne, a famous general of United State army led the third expedition and destroyed the whole Village. On October 20, 1794, Wabash-Erie port was captured by the army of United States from Miami federation and a novel fort was constructed at three rivers. The name of the fort was kept Fort Wayne and it was given this very name as an honor to General Wayne. By February 1840, the Fort Wayne town was integrated as the Fort Wayne city and the population grew during the 19 century as many immigrants started migrating to this place.

In most recent history, the city is prospering in terms of business and beautification process in the city has improved drastically.
