Denver, Travel Guide – General Presentation
Denver is the capital of the state of Colorado, being its most important city from the point of view of the number of population and development of economy, culture, politics etc. It is situated on the Highs Plains of the state, next to the East side of the Rocky Mountains. The name Denver comes from Mile - High City, which explains its position one mile above sea level. Although Denver comes second in line after Colorado Springs, when it comes to the area on which its constructions have been built, the capital of Colorado possesses ten of the largest central business buildings in the United States.
Denver represents also a reference point for Mountain Time Zone, due to the fact that the 105th meridian passes through the city’s station. Denver Travel Guide states also that the population living here is estimated somewhere around 600,000 people, putting the city on the 26th place among the other populous places in the United States.
Denver, Travel Guide – Places to Visit
Before planning your trip to Denver, you should take into consideration the possibility to stay in a hostel outside town. The prices are lower, the services are great, and most of them have a pool where you can relax from time to time. Thus, you can always rent a car or pay a taxi to get you downtown. The locals are really nice and friendly and you can always ask the taxi driver to make a tour of the town and show you the main spots, before getting off in the center. He will most certainly show you with pride Coors Field, Pepsi Center and Colorado Convention Center.
Once you are downtown, keep in mind that there is a free bus that can pick you up and leave you at any stations alongside the street that crosses the center. It is here that you will find the whole city living, with supermarkets, souvenir shops, malls, restaurants and cinemas. At the North end of the city, just turn right and you will come across Colorado State Capitol. Right in front of it, the beautiful Cheeseman Park will allure you to take a look not only at the colorful flowers and refreshing fountains, but also at the amazing skyline of downtown Denver.
Any Denver Travel Guide will advise you not to plan a visit longer than two days in this unique town, but once you get there you will most certainly fall in love with the distinct atmosphere of this half countryside, half modern city, so you will want to stay longer only to try to discover its every detail.
Once you get all the answers, gather some information about Colorado Springs Travel Guide and Copper Mountain Travel Guide and move on.
