Enjoy a Fun-filled Sightseeing Experience at Riverside

At the begining of the year, nighttime Riverside is still awash with millions of twinkling lights in the downtown district where merrymakers toast the New Year.  The city starts a round of festivities and fun for both locals and guests hoping to savor a laidback ambience without missing all the sights and sounds and great things to do while there.

 

Guests will always be regaled by a lineup of exciting activities from Shakespearian theater presentations, ballet recitals, and professional ballet offerings, modern dance entertainment, music concerts, and art shows.  For those who want something else, there are other fun stops and a great nightlife to enjoy a stay in Riverside. These recommended places should be a part of everybody’s itinerary when holidaying in Riverside City and the suburbs:

•    Mission Inn should be a first in your list because it is the most famous landmark of the city.  The inn occupies a whole block and has six restaurants on site. Have your pick of Italian, Mexican, and Spanish gustatory delights and a serving of the all-American steak.  The stately rooms offer a view of the bustling downtown scene.   The Spanish mission style inn has played an exciting role in the early citrus rush in the late 1800s.

•    California Citrus State Historic Park offers a marvelous view of thousands of citrus trees growing the popular navel orange.  It is a commemoration to the citrus boom, which was the backbone of the city’s economy in the late 1800s.  The park is also a favorite romantic venue for wedding receptions and family parties and corporate parties.  The best time to visit the place is March to October when the climate is warm and the trees spotted with the orange fruits.  Guests won’t miss the place at 9400 Dufferin Avenue at the corner of Van Buren.

•    Canyon Crest Country Club offers a scenic feast for the eyes and a good game of golf.  Located in the suburbs, the elegant but comfortable clubhouse is host to lush greenery, pines, tropical palms and eucalyptus trees.   The lake shows off a 50-foot fountain that does not fail to impress golfers and gawkers alike.  Sports facilities for swimming and tennis are available for a variety of fun while visiting the club.

•    Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays at 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  The colorful array of baked goods, gouda cheeses, vegetables, fruits, organic eggs, and flowers are the top sellers.  Shoppers can enjoy the live music entertainment while doing their shopping or sipping cups of coffee in colorful stalls.

•    March Field Air Museum will delight the boy in any man.  The exhibits show off 53 vintage aircraft World War 1 memorabilia—detailing depicting March Air Force Base’s role in local and national history.  The museum is along Interstate 215 on Van Buren Boulevard.

•    Mt. Robidoux challenges hardy trekkers to conquer its heights and earn a sweeping view of the downtown area.   It was here that the Easter Sunrise Service was started in 1909.
