The city of Southampton is located in Hampshire, United Kingdom. Historical findings indicate that the area of Southampton has been inhabited before the Stone Age. Some of the most popular sights and places of tourism interest in Southampton include the following.

Mayflower Theatre

It is very famous theater in the city of Southampton. It has seating capacity of more than 2300 people. The theatre was opened in 1928. At one time, it was a largest theater of the United Kingdom. A number of lives shows and musical performances are held throughout the year.

West Quay

It is one of the biggest shopping centers in Southampton. It covers an area of 800,000 square feet. There are many shops and retailers including the big brands of the world like Waterstone's, Marks and Spencer, Apple and Benetton Bank etc. West Quay is situated close to the dock in the center of the city.

Ocean Village

It is one of the biggest residential developments on the River Itchen. There are more than 1500 apartments. Ocean Village features a number of restaurants, bars, cinemas, and cafes.

Civic Centre

Civic center is a commercial complex hosting a number of venues including council offices, police station, Guildhall venue, art gallery and city library. It also houses many other borough offices of the Southampton.

St Mary's Stadium

It is one of the largest football stadiums in Southampton having seating capacity for more than 32,000 people. The stadium is like a ball in shape. Stadium also features press facilities, dressing rooms and club offices. St Mary’s Stadium hosts a number of matches and sporting events throughout the year.

Southampton City Centre

It is very popular commercial center in the heart of the city. City center has many museums, cinemas, shopping centers and restaurants. West Quay, Bargate and The Mall Marlands are some of the major shopping centers in the area.

University of Southampton

The University of Southampton is the biggest educational institute in Southampton. A number of disciplines are being taught including Science and Technology, Business, IT Health, Arts, Fashion, Media, Mathematics, Physical science and Engineering.
