If you're vacationing in Thailand and are looking for a place to go, then Hat Yai is not to be missed. Hat Yai is a recently modernized railway city that is situated between Malaysia and Singapore. Hat Yai once was a place that nobody would have ever dreamed of visiting. That all changed with the advent of Hat Yai's rail yard. With the railroad came the arrival of business. Business meant that Hat Yai had capital coming into it. Capital meant that Hat Yai could make improvements to their city.

As business and trade began to grow in Hat Yai, so did the number of visitors. Although it is a small city Hat Yai is often overwhelmed by the amount of visitors arriving on boats at the end of each week. Hat Yai needed a way to accommodate these travelers. They built hotels, restaurants, and marketplaces all for the sake of these visitors.

You may ask yourself 'Why should I go to Hat Yai?' Simply because it has all you'd ever want and more. As you begin your trip, you may want to visit the reclined statue of Buddha. This is known as the Phra Buddha and can be seen at the Wat Hat Yai Nai attraction. Having visited Buddha, you may want to visit the Hat Yai Temple as well. To top it off you could go see the Doves of China, or go down into the Southern Cultural Village to see the sights there. Now you may be saying, 'Wait a minute.' 'This isn't for me.' 'I'm not into religion or history.'

For the more action oriented tourists, there are attractions such as Bull Fights and Thai Boxing. If you don't want that much action there are also shooting ranges, a golf course, and a bowling alley.

If you have a family, there is a municipal park as well as the Bhasawang Water Gardens. This water attraction boasts a fifty-foot slide that goes into a pool, which is as large as a lagoon. Therefore, no matter what you're looking for in a vacation, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not scheduling a trip to Hat Yai. If you go to Hat Yai once, it’s more than likely to come back for another visit. You'll like it so much you may just decide to move in.
