Aleppo Sights and Landmarks Guide, Syria

Some tourist attractions in the city of Aleppo have made it a very interesting town of the Middle East. The Jdeide quarter and the citadel are the well-known sights of the city. Also the old center is recognized as one of its remarkable sights. The old city is a big maze of streets, but fortunately the divisions around the area are quite organized.

One main axis of the city is Baron Street. On Kouwatly Street you can find restaurants, cool fruit bars and hotels. Along with food shops, there are travel agencies. Left of Baron Street, you can stroll on a spacious path that has freshly planted flowers. The site has become famous because of its floral exhibits.

The Gassaniyn Street that is sometimes called as Tilal Street is a very busy boulevard in Aleppo. The Bab al Faraj with a clock tower that is a landmark can also be found near this Street. From there you can quickly reach the museum and the old city.

In the old houses section of Jdeideh you will be amazed by its spectacular decorated courtyards. There are various antique shops along with the cathedral of Saint George that can be found behind a maze of narrow roads.

Another Aleppo sight is the citadel hill. It has been said that Abraham had camped in this site in his trip to Hauran.

 At the beginning of the Islamic age, the Great Mosque was founded in Aleppo. You can also find here its stunning minaret that rises directly from the road. The Kufic inscriptions serve as a good model of the vast period of the Islamic structural design in Syria. The north wall of the grand Mosque formed a square side loaded with peddlers and hawkers.

One of the loveliest and major religious structures in Aleppo is the Al Fardaws Madrassa. The place is a magnificently peaceful sight where you can feel full purity, sobriety and harmony. These sights in Aleppo do not only give pleasure to its visitors but also provide a more relaxing atmosphere.
