Luzern Travel Guide, Switzerland

Luzern is a city in Switzerland and is the capital of the Canton of Luzern.  It is considered the most populous city in Central Switzerland.  The place is situated at the shores of Lake Luzern, thereby making the place one of the main tourist attractions for everybody who plans to see the central part of Switzerland.

It is also the home for the chapel bridge known as Kapellbrucke which is a wooden-bridge rooted way back the 14th century.

The Luzern Festival

The festival is a form of tourist attraction as it provides quality entertainment to anybody who will come to watch the celebration.  The performers dance ballet de cour, which incorporates all from Russian to modern ballet.  They also have formal and ballroom dances ranging from the foxtrot, cha-cha, waltz and tango.  The people of Luzern have bonded beautiful music and creative dances together to depict a symbiotic relationship between the two.  They believe that when these two things jive, every performance will be worth to watch.  This is the main purpose of the Luzern Festival - to bring music to the lives of those who perform and to the patrons who watch it.

In the late 1980's, people of Luzern found it necessary to put up a convention center so that the natives may share their talents with the viewing public.  They found it necessary to have balance between tradition and alternative culture.  The people started to build various structures where they could perform and give tourists as well as locals the chance to get to know their culture.  They depicted their love for the arts by constructing a concert hall, the city theater known as the Luzern Theater and another smaller theater called the Kleintheater.  They also have a music restaurant known as the Stadtkeller.

Carnival is one of the trends for the Swiss nationals.  In Luzern alone, streets and alleyways are filled with these events every year.  The festivities are glittery and were founded on the concept of merry-making.  The Luzern carnival usually starts every Thursday before the Ash Wednesday celebration of Catholics.  Aside from the Luzern Festival, another event that takes place in the area is the so-called Luzern Blues Festival.  The event usually takes place in November of each year.

One of the tourist main attractions however is the Fumetto which is a comics festival held every April.

The people of Luzern love sports and as evidence to this, there are a number of football clubs in the city.  The city is also the hometown of famous handball and volleyball players.  Other than these sports, the natives also find a good taste for equestrian.  Luzern also offers various sports facilities for ice hockey, figure skating, golf, swimming, basketball and a lot more. The people of Luzern have a good eye for sports and the arts.  They share their talent to the world by using these special gifts in performances they make during their festivals.  With their skills, they have definitely made their place one of the hottest tourist spots in the world.
