Geneva is considered the second most populous city in Switzerland, next to Zurich.  It is a well-developed city as it is home to many successful business establishments and world-renowned organizations. Included in the list of organizational headquarters are the International Telecommunications Union, World Intellectual Property Organization, World Trade Organization, and the European Center of Nuclear Research.

Geneva encourages a lot of innovations pertaining to economy and business.  It is also considered the activity center for the Swiss Federal College of Technology, an institution known to lead in academics. 

Cultural heritage

Geneva commemorates St. Bartholomew's day and holds a feast named Jeune Genevois.  This is to note the day when the news of the saint's massacre reached the city. 

A certain chestnut tree has also formed part of Geneva's tradition.  This was called the herald of the spring and the tradition of taking note of its first bud was recorded since 1818.  The Secretary of the Parliament of the Canton of Geneva does the rights and declares when the bud is seen, while the media will have the news released.

Economy

Geneva is known to be a service oriented place for business as it is regarded an important center for commodity trade. The finance sector is predominated by private banking and international trade. 

Geneva is also one of Switzerland's watch making spots. The famous Swiss watches form part of the life of the people of Geneva.  It also embraces the headquarters of Firmenich and Givaudan, two of the world's most famous flavors and fragrances.

Transport

The city is the home of Geneva Cointrin International Airport.  The place is connected to both the Swiss railway and French network, which holds direct access to Paris, Marseille and Montpellier.  It is also connected to the Swiss and French motorway systems.

 

Education

The University of Geneva is one of the main school campuses in the place.  Geneva is also the house of the International School of Geneva which is regarded as the oldest international school in the world.  It also embraces one of America's universities, the Webster University.  One of the most famous schools in the place is the Graduate Institute of International Studies, where one may opt to pursue post graduate education.

International Organizations

Geneva is world famous because it is the site for most international headquarters of the United Nations Organization.  Aside from the others mentioned above, it holds the structures of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, World Health Organization, UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the UN Office for the Coordination of Human Affairs.

Geneva has indeed opened a lot of opportunities for business and trade as well as international relations.  It is considered one of the most modernized cities in the world as it had posed a lot of infrastructures associated with the modern times.  It had flourished into a city that had given chances to its citizens as well as foreigners.  Geneva's cultural heritage, transport, economy and education led to the city being  considered one of the world's most progressive cities.
