Boon Lay travel guide

More than a town, Boon Lay is regarded as a housing estate.  This city can be found in the Western district of Singapore.  The name of the city was taken after Chew Boon Lay, who was a well-known businessman who owned a rubber estate in the town.

Boon Lay has several public transportations.  The first means of transportation are the commuter trains also known as the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT).  This transport has several forms.  The MRT Stations of Lakeside and Boon Lay are considered relevant in transporting locals and vacationers of this town.  They are located around 700 meters to one kilometer from its heart.

Boon Lay is also served by local buses which take passengers to different areas within Singapore.  The Boon Lay Bus Interchange is one of the famous bus spots situated near the Boon Lay MRT Station.  The town also has inter-state buses which can transport travelers to some parts of Malaysia.

Since the country is located at the northern part of the equator, the climate in Boon Lay can be distinguished into two seasons. One is Northeast Monsoon Season experienced from December until March.  The other is Southwest Monsoon Season that takes place from June until September. 

The weather in Boon Lay is considered as tropical which is a combination of hot, humid days and rainy days.  Precipitation is most abundant in the months of December and April while the driest days occur during the months of February and July.  The average minimum temperature ranges from 23 to 26 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature ranges from 31 to 34 degrees Celsius.

Boon Lay is one of the most inhabited locales in Singapore. So it is best to know where the major facilities are.  The nearest Police Department in Boon Lay is the Jurong West Neighborhood Police Centre which is just 15 minutes walk away.  While the Jurong Fire Station is located at the intersecting corner of Boon Lay Drive and Boon Lay Way.

Jurong Medical Centre, the community care centre of Boon Lay, is adjacent to the Frontier Community Club.  Other Medical Clinics can be found at B1A, near the Japanese Food Street.

One of the major shopping centers in Boon Lay is the Jurong Point Shopping Centre.  This is just 200 meters far from the Boon Lay MRT Station.  Another leisure place in the town is Boon Lay Shopping Centre situated in Boon Lay Place.  This place is popular mostly to the residents of the village-town.
