When you first hear the name of this city, Kazan, I can bet you don’t know it is the capital of the Republic of Tatastarn, a federal subject of Russia. As Russia is a federation made up of 83 subjects, having equal representation, Kazan is one of its largest cities, being included in the Republic of Tatastarn. This beautiful capital is located on two important rivers: Volga and Kazanka, in the central part of the European Russia.

The first place you should visit when arriving here is The Kazan Kremlin. It is a medieval fortress made of wood, some 1000 years ago. All roads go to this charming setting, where the local government is working. Like any other Russian city, Kazan is popular for its Opera and Ballets Theaters.
The Opera House is a modern and unique building, placed near the shopping area. After the beautiful representations, you have the chance to see are over, once you step out a large plaza, with refreshing and spectacular fountains, opens up in front of your eyes.
If you are more into the spiritual aspects of this culture, then you shouldn’t miss the opportunity to see Saint Peter and Saint Pavel Church, centrally situated on a hill. Its position makes it easy to locate and once you get up there, you will have a beautiful panorama of the city. The architecture is specific to the Christian- Orthodox religion and if you take a bird’s eye view of the town, you will observe that it is here where Moslems and Orthodoxies have been living together for ages.
