Satu Mare Travel Guide, Romania

Satu Mare, Romania – Overview: Old World Charm with a Contemporary Elegance

Satu Mare calls the tourists, lures them and treats them really well. On the Romanian borders, the place is a source of delight to every traveler. The city offers a recess from the mundane structure of life.

Satu Mare is located at the borderline between Hungary and Romania. The closest city is Baia Mare. Geographically, the city is the capital of Satu Mare County.

Oas Mountain, a part of Carpathian mountain ranges, offers chilly winds from the north. This can make Satu Mare excessively cold in winter at times. The climate is relatively moderate during summers and this is considered to be the best time for visitors.

Most locals are Romanian, but it also has a neat spread of ethnic Hungarian minority. The Hungarian natives are more industrious and prone towards agriculture. People of the city are diligent in work and aim towards establishing a stronger industry. They are also very hospitable. When in Satu Mare, you can look to explore its vistas.

Satu Mare is strategically placed. Being closer to the border of Hungary with Romania, it automatically fetches foreign direct investments for its industry and agriculture. Textile, food, wood and furniture industry are its forte. The furniture industry is a derivative of the wood industry itself. The city is also strongly linked to automotive industry. Agriculture subsidies from the government and soil compatibility also provide it with great agricultural opportunities.

The city offers many buses, taxis and local means of transports. Buses are being repackaged to draw more tourists. Presently, taxis are better options for long drives and they are pretty affordable. Transurban S.A. is the chief operator. Bus lines run for nearly 190 kilometers including the urban and suburban channels.

It offers all kinds of accommodation. There is something for the elite-class and also something for the budget holiday seekers. Dacia hotel offers all kinds of modern day amenities with orchestra, conference salon, and a castle made in Secession Style. It also has meeting rooms,

air-conditioners, and fireplaces and offers quality ethnic and international food.

Aurora Hotel is another luxurious place. It also provides all modern day amenities, mixed with a rustic comfort. Thus, it will remind you of the old world charm. In terms of facilities, it’s as good as the former one.

If you are in Satu Mare, make hay while the sun shines!
