Have a Taste of Bicol through a Relaxed and Happy Trip to Sorsogon

Sorsogon is usually referred to as the Switzerland of the East or the Philippines. This small province is situated at the southern part of the Bicol peninsula. Sorsogon, Philippines boasts of rolling valleys and hills which are matted with various plants of frequently untracked humid soil. It has always been viewed as an unassuming province yet with rich heap of natural sights as well as man-made destinations to explore and discover. These are definitely boundless line ups of beaches, lakes, coasts, falls and even densely forested mountains that added up make a decisive destination spot both for adventure and leisure times.

Sorsogon has been a province which is known for its coconut-based Bicol cooking. Taste the splendor of the native delicacy named “laing” or “gulay na gabi.” This Bicol cuisine is a popular dish which absolutely delighted both Filipinos and foreigners at the peak of their Bicol dining experience. Laing’s main ingredient is a type of vegetable known locally as taro leaves which is cooked in a coconut-based cream and then combined with various kinds of chili.

One more famous dish largely flavored with chili and prepared in coconut milk is the popular Bicol Express. These Bicol specialties are available in the majority of the restaurants all over the Bicol Region. Other common vegetable dishes are jackfruit, a local fruit referred to as santol, and even banana blossoms, all of which are simple ingredients typically cooked in coconut cream, yet when cooked in the Bicolano way, they become discerning foods.

Don’t miss tasting these when you visit Sorsogon.

Be in Sorsogon by land, through buses going to the Visayas Region via Sorsogon - Philtranco being the dominant bus operator with their routes direct to the province. Or, book a flight via Philippine Airlines or Cebu Pacific which have flights from Metro Manila to Legazpi City, followed by a bus or van ride from Legazpi City to Sorsogon.
