The Sounds of Quezon City

The city of the young keeps its residents entertained with a host of shopping malls, restaurants and bars littered around the metropolis.  Quezon City is considered a shopping destination and a great place to wind down or have fun in the evening hours.  Here’s a list of some interesting places to visit and enjoy the city at play.

A Shopping Mecca

Most of the malls in Quezon City aren’t just for pure retail therapy.  These malls have open areas with restaurants and bars where you can dine and hang with friends until late into the night, right after spending all your day shopping.

This city is home to the second largest shopping mall in the country, which is SM City North EDSA.  This five-level shopping area has three hundred retail shops, stores, restaurants, bars, a bowling alley with 32 lanes, twelve movie theaters and an amusement center.  What more can any shopper ask for?

Just a few steps away from SM City North EDSA is the beautiful Gateway Mall which is the only mall in the world that has a four-level open-air interior garden, called The Oasis, perched from the ground and opens to the sky.

Another popular shopping district is the Cubao area, which is considered a bargain hunter’s dream and one of the most visited malls is Ali Mall.  This area is enough to keep any shopper busy.

Night Attractions

For a taste of the night life, head to the areas of Tomas Morato Avenue, Katipunan or Eastwood Libis where you can take your pick of entertainment establishments that are sure to excite any visiting tourist.  You’ll never run out of things to do in this city at night.

The entire stretch of Tomas Morato Avenue is riddled with restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes and even a comedy club offering a variety of ambience and menus that range from Italian, Japanese, Chinese, American and local cuisine.  This area is littered with people on a Friday, Saturday and sometimes even Sunday nights.

If you want a place for the much younger crowd, check out the strip of Katipunan where students from nearby colleges enjoy a round of drinks and hang out with friends.  This area features a lot of great restaurants, cafes and dessert places that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.  It’s definitely a student friendly location.

Eastwood City in Libis is a mini city.  The area is made up of high-rise condominiums, apartments, office buildings and a European inspired mall.  A free shuttle even goes around the city that takes passengers to their destination.  Inside the mall, you will find specialty shops featuring local and international brands.  The restaurants, bars and cafes of Eastwood are located in an outdoor open area that always comes alive at night.  At a Friday night, the area is littered with the after-work crowd and usually a live band plays at the center of it all.  This area frequently plays host to a lot of events and sometimes even live concerts.
