Pasig Travel Guide, Philippines

History

The City of Pasig is incorporated in Metropolis Manila.  It is divided into two districts with 30 barangays, 22 of which belong to the first district and the other eight barangays belong to the second district.  It is surrounded by Marikina City on the North, Makati City, Pateros and Taguig on the South, Quezon City and Mandaluyong City on the West and Cainta, a province in Rizal on the East.

Its area is 31 sq. km. and its population reaches approximately 520,000.  It is primarily considered an industrial and residential town but to this day, because of its exposure to various business trades and the like, it is now beginning to become one of the sought after commercial areas in the Metropolis.   It is classified as a first-class highly urbanized city.

Schools in Pasig

Standing on Pasig’s grounds, Rizal High School is one of the biggest high schools in the world regarding the number of students enrolled.  

It also has a state university known as the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (Pasig City University) which caters to the needs of those who cannot afford to pay for their studies.  The school gives scholarships to bright and deserving students.

The only science high school in the city is Pasig City Science High School.  The science high school provides in its curriculum advance studies on science and mathematics.

The city seal

Representations found on the Pasig City Seal are the woman at the top center, bodies of water found on both sides of the woman, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral on the lower left and on the lower right a manifestation of prosperity in the city.

The woman, also known as the Mutya ng Pasig, epitomizes the characteristic splendor of the city of Pasig.

The bodies of water symbolize the Laguna de Bay and Manila Bay which are connected by the Pasig River.  This also holds true for the literal meaning of the Hindu Word from which the term Pasig was derived and it means a body of water connecting two other bodies of water.

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pasig and one of the oldest structures in the city.

The Local Government of Pasig offers programs on healthcare which includes maternal and child care, senior citizen care, dental care as well as family planning programs. 

Businesses in Pasig

Among the various businesses in Pasig are those which pertain to commercial, industrial and even for gimmick purposes. The area has various establishments from which the trade prospers.  They open windows of opportunity to entrepreneurs and encourage them to invest in something worthwile.

The townspeople of Pasig have cultivated their minds to various endeavors and ideas.  With the help of the Local Government of Pasig, things became easier for them; their successes were not far beyond their reach.
