The city of Muntinlupa is part of Manila Metro and happens to be located in its southern region. The city of Muntinlupa was once the place where most of the prisons for the country of Philippines are located. The headquarters for the Bureau of Prisons (that has now become famous by the name of Bureau of Corrections) is also located in the city of Muntinlupa. During those early years the city prisoners tagged the city as Munti. Lately the local government for the city of Muntinlupa has worked very hard to provide a favorable image to this city and hence in the last decades the city of Muntinlupa has been listed among few of the fastest growing cities in the country of Philippines.

The level of education has also increased exponentially in the last couple of years for the city of Muntinlupa due to the efforts that have been taken by the local government. As of now the city of Muntinlupa has around 58 primary plus secondary level educational institutions, one special education institute (namely The Birthright Educators Foundation, Inc.), and around 22 technical educational institutes that provide international level courses for the students. The city has three private educational institutions that are no longer being used for study purposes for unknown reasons.

The inclination of the locals in the city of Muntinlupa towards religion has also increased immensely in last few years and this can be proved from the number of churches that are part of this city. As of now the city of Muntinlupa has around 40 live churches in which prayers are conducted. 40 churches for one city is actually a lot and this reflects the love of Christians of this city towards their religion.

The huge city of Muntinlupa has been divided into two districts with district one having around 4 barangays and district two having around 5 barangays. Other then these divisions the city of Muntinlupa has also been divided into around 62 subdivisions (also known as villages). This heavy division of the city helps the local government to administer the city with ease.
