Laguna, Philippines – Overview: The Swimming Capital of Philippines

Laguna is one of the most sought after provinces in the Philippines. It is known as the swimming capital, as it encompasses many manmade and natural swimming quarters. Private pools mark the main attractions of the city. Its economy is mainly based on Bamboo, Rattan and hardwood. All such woods are quite abundant in these particular natural resources. White sand with fresh turquoise blue water has made Laguna the tourist lookout that it is today.

Laguna Location

Laguna is a Philippine province lying in the Calibarzan region. Its southern periphery is Batangas and northern border is Rizal. On the east of the city lies Quezon, whereas in the west is Cavite. The province has fetched its name from Lago, which indigenously means lagoon.

Climate

Laguna has typically two climates: dry and wet. Dry season starts from the month of November and ends in April. Wet season predominates. Rainfall is spread evenly throughout the year. While the north and the west look forward to seasons of distinct styles, the eastern and southern peripheries have overlapped ones.

People

People in Laguna are industrious and belong to a highly motivated society. Ideally, they look forward to being very gentle to the tourists. Perhaps, it is the beauty of the pacific water here, which makes them inclined towards generosity.

Culture & festival

Laguna is blessed with many festivals all year round. Few of them commemorate its patron saints and others are known to be a general show of revelry. During the fiestas, street dancing and other rituals with processions are very common. Ethnic food is of top quality and lures one towards a second helping.

Transportation

Philtranco Service Enterprises Inc and JAM Transit offer services for both going into and from Laguna. Apart from this, there are many other means of transports used in the province. It can be a traditional Jeepney, a paddleboat or even a tricycle. A Toyota Granvia Van can be an ideal ally, if you want to stay in the city for a longer time.

Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines connect Laguna to Manila. However, a tourist has to drive to Cebu for using this facility.

So pay a visit to the Swimming Capital to enjoy your vacation with a difference!

How about going around Laguna de Bay. Grab a map of Rizal and Laguna from any National book store, and your on your way to fun fun and more fun!
You can start from Makati or Cainta. Its a six to seven hour travel, no side trips.
Me and my family, started from Cainta, leaving our home at seven am from Quezon City. And had our breakfast in Tanay. Then continued our trip towards Laguna. In an hour we're in Mabitac, Laguna. We had our lunch in Los Banos. After 2 hours we're home resting. The roundabout is about 230 kms.
I spent about 800 in fuel. Orient buko pie (Los Banos) is the best, but have to queue for 15 mins. Collete buko pie is not good.
You should go to Pagsanjan falls. Old churches can be found in Magdalena, Liliw and Nagcalan.
    Try it,and you'll Love it.
