Not only has Cebu thrived as an eco-tourism hub, it has also kept itself at par with Metro Manila and big cities in Asia in terms of entertainment and nightlife.
Every quarter a new bar plays the beat, a sophisticated restaurant dishes up and a hotel refurbishes for the better. Everything is in close proximity when you are in Cebu. It’s surprising that this fishing village, turned into an entertainment hub, comes alive after sunset. All roads lead to various hang-out places like Ayala Entertainment Center, Banilad Town Center, Asiatown Park Crossroads, Paseo in Banawa One Mango Place and SM Fiesta Strip. The yuppies and the mature converge when chill-out time is the ballgame.
Every night is dynamic as music of live bands move the party butterflies to the dance floor. There are numerous bars to hop to like Ratsky’s Mouse Trap Bar in Ayala, Yo.u in Mango Avenue, Paseo Bar in Mabolo, Formo and Vudu Clubs in Banilad, The Outpost and Sunflower City in Lahug, Loft in Asiatown, Badgers’s in Talamban and a lot more. As the influx of foreign tourists in Cebu has increased for the past years, there isn’t any night that you don’t see a flock of Europeans, Koreans, Japanese, Americans, Aussies and Chinese gathering for some night-out, disco and drinking.
The more low-key just prefer to chill, dine and wine at The Wineshop, The Tinderbox D’Vine Darrass and Bowler or any wine shop close by. All stay eventful until as late as 2 a.m. especially on Fridays and Saturdays. SM Fiesta Strip and Ayala Center are mostly flocked by families, corporate troupes, yuppies and even teenagers who have adopted the culture of dining and coffee drinking whether there is any occasion to celebrate or none. Wise choices of bistros include Bigby’s Café, Gerry’s Grill Krua, Thai Big Mao,Oh George Majestic, Don Henrico’s Dessert Factory and a lot more. The Fuente Osmena Circle is one side of the city that never sleeps with its 24-hour fast food outlets like McDonald’s, Jollibee Chowking, Orange Brutus, Pizza Hut, Shakey’s Pizza and the recently opened health & beauty place called Watson’s.
The locals of Cebu have also appreciated the importance of wellness all the more. That’s why spa and massage clubs are open until midnight while others are until dawn. Body & Soul Cebu Holiday Spa, Sawadee Spa, Spa at Cebu Ruiz Derma are some of the choices. If you want to catch a sight of night-shift, call center agents hanging out at Bo’s Coffee, Starbucks, Coffee Beanery, Mr. Coffee and other eateries and dessert places, you had better head to either Asiatown in Lahug, Sykes Asia in Mabolo or Paseo in Banawa.
Most information and technology multinationals are found there which are instrumental to the birth of more night-out spots in Cebu. As the city aggressively develops with call centers mushrooming everywhere and malls expanding, nightlife continues to flourish in Cebu. It has become a party creature magnet that even the country’s famous celebrities would fly to seize the nights of glamour music and fashion.
