Camiling is one of the municipalities found in the province of Tarlac.  It has long been a second class municipality up until its declaration to gain first class hiatus in November 20, 2001.  This was after it attained an annual income of 50 million pesos (around $1.05 million).  It covers 140.50 square kilometers which is said to comprise 4.6% of the province’s land area.

Transport

Going to Camiling is accessible via bus rides.  When you come from other provinces in Region I, you could take two bus rides before reaching the place.  From Manila, you could have one bus ride.  If you wish to travel around the area through your own vehicles, you may do so.

While you are in the town, you could take jeepneys and tricycles to move you from one travel destination to another.  If you are with a group of people, you may always take the streets on foot.  Much of the tourists in the place may also have their own relatives who could guide them in their travel.  While you are a stranger in the area, expect Filipino hospitality to help you enjoy your entire stay.

Climate

The two Philippine seasons are experienced in the town with November to April considered as dry months.  The very wet season is usually felt during the months of July to October when heavy rainfalls strike the place.  The peak of the dry season can be seen from January to March when crops wilt because of the soil’s dryness.

Products and Services

A well-known product in Camiling is the chicharon.  This food is deep fried pork’s skin which usually matches the beer beverage.  The local government is seeking to intensify the industry to make the product exported worldwide.  The people are also very fond of facilitating outreach programs to benefit the masses.

Chicharon and Inuruban Festival

Since the place is famous for its chicharon, the local government had thought of preparing for a yearly festival to honor this delicacy.  The Chicharon and Inuruban Festival is being held every October 26.  The occasion is celebrated with artistic performances and street dancing participated in by the pupils and students of various schools.

Tourist Attractions

Camiling is said to be famous for its own church which does not merely symbolize spiritual refuge.  This is the so-called Paroquia de San Miguel (St. Michaels’ Parish).  This religious artifact is known to symbolize the bravery of the people of the town and their continuous struggle for subsistence.  It is now being slowly rehabilitated after it experienced fire in 1997.

The Maria Clara Museum is another travel destination which you need to explore.  This has a historical inclination for Jose Rizal’s sweetheart named Leonor Rivera.  The lad is known to be the character Maria Clara in one of the national hero’s written novels.  In the museum, you will see several mementos of this heroine from the past.
